Who a global eSIM is for
A country eSIM is the cheapest option when you're going to one place. A global eSIM is for when you're going to lots of places — and don't always know which ones in advance:
- Round-the-world and multi-region trips — Europe, then Asia, then the Americas, on one eSIM that you install once.
- Airline crew — pilots and flight attendants on layovers in a different country every few days. One plan covers the whole roster, and the 365-day plan means you're never scrambling for data at a new outstation.
- Ship crew and seafarers — flying to join a vessel, port calls, crew changes and the trip home at sign-off. (An eSIM uses land networks, so it works in port and near the coast — not in the middle of the ocean.)
- Business travelers and digital nomads — anyone who crosses borders every week and would rather not buy a new plan each time.
How the 365-day plan works
The 1GB / 365-day plan is the "always ready" option: it keeps a working data line on your phone for a full year, so you land anywhere in 117 countries already online.
- Validity starts on first connection, not at purchase. The 365 days begin when the eSIM first connects to a network abroad, so you can buy and install it well ahead of time.
- Top up the same eSIM when you run low. Topping up adds more data without reinstalling anything. Top-ups add data, not days — so the 365-day plan is the one to start on if you want your line to last.
- Data only. There's no phone number, calls or SMS. WhatsApp, FaceTime, Teams and other apps work normally over data, using your usual number.
If you'll use a lot of data over a shorter stretch, the 30-day plans (3GB to 20GB) and the 20GB / 90-day plan are better value per GB — the 90-day plan fits a three-month contract or a long trip.

Rule of thumb: going to one or two countries? A country eSIM is usually cheaper. Three or more, or a route you don't know yet? Go global.
Setting it up
- Check your phone supports eSIM and isn't carrier-locked.
- Buy a plan and scan the QR code while you're on Wi-Fi — before you travel.
- When you land, switch data to the eSIM line and turn Data Roaming on for that line.
- Keep your regular SIM on for calls and texts, but turn off its data roaming so it doesn't run up charges.
